after years of attending d*c, i’ve retired because other than drinking and just an insane amount of pressure to be a good hostess and throw parties, there’s literally nothing for me to do. it’s a cosplayer’s con, so if that’s your bag jump on it. while i think fan-tracks have their merits and can be very interesting (and super fun) if done right, i much prefer being at an industry con. i can network and see the panels i really have an interest in. i miss a lot of my friends who are there right now, but i don’t miss the manic feeling and pace that permeates that convention. but try and go to james gun’s stuff? he’s great on stage. also the star wars track because my friend bria is entertaining.
also tbh, i can pretty much guarantee that even if i WAS at dragon*con this year i’d be doing the same thing i’m doing right now: watching the Auburn game. i do love dragon*con tv though. it’s one of my favorite things.
